Gravity, Consciousness, and the Architecture of the Soul.
What If Gravity Is the Missing Link Between Physics and Astrology?
Here’s a physics-based thought experiment that could explain why astrology persists across civilizations.
Gravity…Most people know it as the force that keeps us stuck to the surface of the Earth. It keeps planets orbiting stars and galaxies from flying apart. It pulls things with mass toward each other. But I’ll focus on the deeper nature of gravity, to make a scientific case for the legitimacy of at least some aspects of astrology, and the influence of the stars and planets on someone’s personality.
One of the most interesting ideas in contemporary quantum physics is that gravity appears to be weaker than the other of the four fundamental forces, which include electromagnetism, plus the strong and weak nuclear forces. I don’t understand how they measure the forces or what the gauge for the strength comparisons are, but essentially, some physicists have proposed that gravity is likely diluted in our 3D spacetime reality.
It seems that a portion of the gravitational force may be leaking into other dimensions, beyond the ones we normally perceive. For those new to this kind of science – the existence of higher dimensions, as many as nine or more, places beyond matter, is generally accepted. There are places we cannot measure or sense, and modern science postulates that gravity gets there, interacting in a manner that is inter-dimensional.
In other words, what we experience as gravity in our reality could be part of a much larger but wispier, viscous phenomenon extending beyond our visible reality, unlike the other forces which are too “thick” to get beyond the material levels of our universe.
That idea immediately grabs my attention because spiritual traditions have been saying something similar for thousands of years. They describe unseen realms, higher dimensions, subtle energies, and levels of existence beyond ordinary perception…and they also make use of astrology, in much the same ways. Star charts and pertaining astrological observations have occurred throughout ancient civilizations across the globe.
What if science and spirituality are both pointing toward the same thing from different directions?
If gravity truly extends into other dimensions – spiritual dimensions, dare I say - then wouldn’t it make sense that it is the force that has an effect on the part of us that also connects to the spirit realms…our soul? Maybe gravity is not simply pulling matter together. Perhaps gravity is the thread that links various dimensions of existence into a unified whole.
And if that’s true, consciousness may be impacted by the unique gravitational pull of a moment, serving as a signature imprinted on you when you are born. Maybe, the gravitational influence makes an impression on your spirit, steering or shaping your personality and life path. Which gives the zodiac an evolutionary purpose, to assure a diversity of personalities and life paths.
This might be where spirituality and physics begin to overlap in a fascinating way. The rise of interest in astrology, even among the agnostic and scientific minded, could be a consequence of a growing validity due to these new quantum field ideas.
Quantum physics already tells us that reality behaves very differently beneath the surface of everyday experience. At the quantum level, certainty dissolves into probabilities. Particles appear connected across enormous distances. Observation itself seems woven into the behavior of matter. The school of thought within physics called String Theory, has already been a strong proponent of gravity functioning in higher dimensions. The only leap you now need take is a simple belief in a spirit or soul.
Consciousness refuses to fit neatly into our current scientific framework.
Gravity refuses to fit neatly into our current scientific framework.
Maybe that’s not a coincidence. Maybe the reason gravity remains so mysterious is because it occupies a unique position between worlds. One foot in physical reality. One foot somewhere beyond it.
If gravity can leak into other dimensions, then this is the best evidence for consciousness participating in a larger field of reality connected through dimensions we do not yet fully understand.
Here I am discussing this theory with astrologist Daniel Colon:
Whether you agree or think I’m completely off the rails, these are the kinds of questions that inspired me to write Topanga. It’s a comedy about spiritual seekers, skeptics, gurus, psychedelics, synchronicity, and the strange possibility that reality is a lot weirder than we think.

It is interesting how the belief in higher realms and alternate universes span the ages and yet there is always that fight against those ideas.
I was just having this conversation. Even when we discover new planets - it is tied to leaps in consciousness. In my new world - we are using astrology as a blueprint for life and community. 🪐
